My momentum

Its been a while ago since I have written something. Its the right moment. Im on the train from frankfurt to hamburg, just arrived from melbourne and pretty exhausted, but full of energy. 2011 was an exiting year. This is my first blog post in english (Sorry for my rough english *G*) and here my review of 2011:

No more bullshit and idiots.

I met indeed amazing, talented and interesting people 2011. Anywhere, in Berlin, Hamburg, Warsaw, Wroclaw, London, New York and Melbourne. But as life goes I met a lot of idiots as well. Talking 24/7 bullshit. Please guys (I include my self) stop doing that. Please. Facebook is a great place for funny nonsense and I love that, but there is serious nonsense as well which is even worst.

First bullshit story: There is a group called „4-Hour-Workweek“ on Facebook that was initiated by Melissa Rachel Black. They meet every monday in Betahaus/Berlin and helping each other with their expertise or projects – its free and so far so good. If you don’t know what the „4-hour- workweek“ is, please check Tim Ferris Blog or read his book. I have never attended one of the meetings and then again Im sure there are really awesome people, like melissa, but as I was following the Facebook group I read most of the time just stupid, serious posts. People „inventing“ and „talking“ about things that no one needs. Websites, products and services that are only focused to make money. Basically spam. Creating more bullshit, that no one needs. They do make money and some of them are probably kind of successful, but I really dont understand why people have to spam the world just to make money. Its ok to make money, but be honest and please sell something thats worth the money. I cannot do that and I will never do that.

Second bullshit story: I attended the „21st Century Financial Education Summit“ in Melbourne and it was just a ridiculous event. Basically an event to give idiots a platform to sell their own book/product. Well you might say, thats most of the time the case at conferences, but believe me I have never seen anything like that. It started with the title, the next thing was the repeating „Earlybird“ Tickets sales and last but not least: You could have dinner with tim ferris for an enormous price- shame on you Tim Ferris. Don’t you have any proud? how much did they pay you for that? The organizer of the event tried to sell non stop their own products, like DVDs, Books etc. -  so annoying. To keep you interested and to make you attend all the sessions, they didn’t publish the speaker program online, only there and they left some sessions open with the title „mysterious speaker“. So you had no idea, when Tim Ferris or Sir Richard Branson was speaking.

I hate wasting time on idiots. I really really hate that. Its like spending money on horrible food. It doesn’t matter how much time or money you spend, its always a waste. Its never worth it. There is a company called Dailydeal (recently bought by Google), you know those sites , you love it, but I would never work for companies like that or support them. Those companies doesn’t do anything good. They really don’t.  They might generate revenue in short term for little shops, but nothing else. Its not sustainable at all and can even destroy little shops – there are enough examples of that. Don’t do that. You can do better. Don’t work for evil companies.

Last but not least: Why has New York only shit coffee? Seriously, go to Melbourne and learn making some good coffee. As soon I make money, I will do a barista course and open up the best coffee place in New york. Don’t tell me its not possible in New York.  Don’t tell me New York people don’t know what good coffee is (its true), but because they never had great coffee.

Good friends are like delicious food

But this doesn’t happen every day. Thankfully, I have wonderful friends that are always honest and trustful to me. Friendships that last. Friendships I will always have – wherever we are. Every time you spend time with those friends, you know what life makes great. Spending time with my best friends is like eating delicious food. Every bite is worth spending the time on it and it makes everyone truly happen. Its not about money, its about great experience. Friends and delicious food. Just imagine you couldn’t taste? Just imagine you don’t have great friends? Just imagine you have never loved someone? Don’t waste your time with horrible food and idiots. You will never ever get anything back from that…

I wish I had your life

2011 was from the financial perspective a horrible year for me. Quitting my job, stop working for clients, traveling around the world the same time and doing my own projects meant giving up everything for me. I don’t regret anything of that. I want to change the world, at least a bit. I will give up everything for that. I will always crave for more. Make the world a better place  to give everyone access to great experiences. Not sharing and liking your status, I mean sharing the same time, experience and space with your friends and family. Being together.

Even though Im sometimes jealous of people doing there 9 to 5 Job, having a real home, steady income, paying off their mortgage and having a fantastic life. Not craving always for more, living a happy life. It is a great life, a different one, but thats not the one I want to live now. I have never had this, earning enough money for a long period or just being son of rich parents. But you know, it has kept me free as well. My life is packed in two luggages.

the (right) momentum

I wrote in my last blog post about „Bauchgefühl“ (Trust your nuts) and I had no idea, what would happen in the next months. I met this incredible inspiring and hilarious guy Wendel Davis as I bought the domain kitchensurfing.com, the one who told me to go to New York and introduced us the world of New York: The people. Im always afraid that he comes up with a new ideas I cannot deny and his emails, since he types easily 30 emails per hour á 200 words. One of the people he introduced us was his very good friend Chris Muscarella, one the smartest guys I have ever met and knows all the good food places in New York. Last but not least, my fellow Lars Kluge who had to bear with me the last months. A truly awesome friend and developer. So here we are, it all came together beginning of november, the second time in New York, as we decided to make the project kitchensurfing happen and to change the world around food. Besides of that, I had always epic support from my friends and I really appreciate that. It has always kept me running and running…
