Jetzt bin ich fast wieder in Deutschland und ich kann es noch gar nicht fassen. Zwei Dinge werde ich wohl am meisten vermissen:
- Das unglaublich gute asiatische Essen in Melbourne – angeblich sogar manchmal besser als in Asien selbst!
- Beim Verlassen einer Tram oder einem Bus ein schneller Wink zum Fahrer und: Thanks Mate, Take care, cya!
Was ich jedoch eigentlich berichten möchte: Ich bin der Meinung, man sollte immer die Meinung sagen und nicht nur negative, sondern auch postive Kritik. Also here we go.
Qatar bringt Service auf eine neue Stufe
So komme ich zum Flug QR31 mit Qatar Airways, Melbourne-Doha am 6. Juni 2010:
Am Check-In 20kg mein Backpack, 10kg meine Laptoptasche, 7kg mein Handgepäck…Moment, 10kg Laptoptasche? Grmpf, hatte wieder zu viele Kabel dabei, musste also schnell noch mal umkrempeln, aber ne halbe Stunde später sitze im Flugzeug – wie immer halt.
Es kommt jedoch alles anders als erwartet. Flug verspätet sich etwas, aber Flight-Entertainment ist schon aktiviert und in diesem Juni wurde das neueste Onyx Entertainment Center vorgestellt. Hier ein paar Highlights:
- mehr als 170 Filme
- mehr als 250 TV-Shows
- mehr als 500 CDs
- mehr als 50 Games
- Live-Satelite – Coming Soon!
- Hochauflösendes Display
- usw.
Nicht Business, aber Econmy
Gleich zu Anfang bekomme ich ein paar Bonbons und Erfrischungstücher, danach geht’s weiter mit den kostenlosen Kopfhörern. Leider stehen wir immer noch in der Warteschleife, aber schon kommt die nächste Stewardess und bringt mit eine kleine Tasche, was da wohl drin ist…? Eine Schlafmaske, Ohropacks und Strümpfe! Ja, Strümpfe! Ich denke mal, das sind Trombosestrümpfe oder so.
Mittlerweile ist die Maschine in der Luft und wir bekommen heiße Tücher zum reinigen unserer Hände! Hallo? Das kenne ich nur von guten japanischen Restaurants! Oder vom St. Jakobs Hotel auf der Toilette! Zwischendurch bekommen wir Aufkleber mit der Aufschrift “Dont wake me up”, “Wake me up for Lunch” etc….kurze Zeit später werden dann auch Menüs ausgeteilt und ich habe lecker Lamm mit Kartoffeln gewürzt mit Rosmarin etc. gegessen – ich konnte es nicht fassen, nicht einfach so ein Rosmarinpulver, sondern “echter” Rosmarin. Also da hab ich echt gestaunt! Gut gegessen, ein Heineken getrunken, ach ja und bevor ich mein Essen bekomme habe, da wurde mir noch eine Unterlage gereicht, die das Essenstablet vom wegrutschen bewahrt hat. Hier wird an alles gedacht!
Habe ich die Steckdosen schon erwähnt? Oder die USB-Steckdose? Oder die Buchse für Ethernet? Leider soll letzteres angeblich noch nicht funktionieren…!
Nach “How to train a Dragon” und noch ein paar anderen Filme, erwartet mich auf dem Rückweg von der Toilette ein riesen Tablett mit Obst, Müsliriegeln, anderem Knabberzeuge, Wasser usw. Die Stewardess präsentiert mit freundlich und nett, was ich alles wählen kann. Toller Service!
So will ich immer fliegen! Qatar, wie ist Business fliegen mit Euch?
Das ist Service auf höchstem Niveau!

Now I’m almost back to Germany and I still can not believe it. Two things I will miss probably the most:
- The incredible Asian food in Melbourne – allegedly even sometimes better than in Asia itself!

What I really want to tell but I am of the opinion that one should always tell the mind and not only negative but also postive criticism. So here we go.
Qatar takes service to a new level
So I get to flight QR31 with Qatar Airways, Doha-Melbourne on 6 June 2010:
At the check-in my 20kg backpack, my laptop bag 10kg, 7kg my hand … wait, 10kg laptop bag? Grmpf had too many cables it again, had to shake up fast again, but half an hour later sitting on the plane – just as always.
But it is anything different than expected. Flight is delayed a bit, but flight entertainment is already activated, and this June was the latest Onyx Entertainment Center presented. Here are some highlights:
- more than 170 films

Not business, but Econmy
At the beginning I get a few sweets and soft tissues, then you go on with the free headphones. Unfortunately, we are still on hold, but already is the next flight attendant and brings with him a small bag, which is probably in there because …? A sleep mask, Ohropacks and stockings! Yes, socks! I guess those are Trombosestrümpfe or so.
Meanwhile, the machine is in the air and we got hot towels to clean our hands! Hello? I only know of good Japanese restaurants! Or from the St. James Hotel on the toilet! In between we get stickers with the inscription “Do not wake me up”, “Wake me up for Lunch” etc …. Short time later, then be handed out menus and I have delicious spiced lamb with rosemary potatoes etc. eaten – I could not to consider not simply a rosemary powder, but “real” rosemary. So I’m surprised really!Good eating, drinking a Heineken, oh yes and before I get my food was because I was still handed a document, which preserves the food from slipping from the Tablet. This is thought of everything!
Did I mention the outlets yet? Or the USB socket? Or the jack for Ethernet? Unfortunately, the latter is supposed to work yet …!
Under “How to Train a Dragon” and a few other films, I expect on the way back from the toilet a giant tray of fruit, cereal bars, other snacks, water, etc. The stewardess presents a friendly and nice, I can choose anything . Great service!
Then I will fly forever! Qatar, as is business fly with you?
